VirtueKeeper ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal virtue-tracking application based on Benjamin Franklin's Thirteen Virtues system. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name
- Authentication credentials (managed securely by our authentication provider)
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information you authorize those services to share (typically your name and email address).
Profile Information
You may optionally provide:
- A profile picture (stored securely in cloud storage)
Usage Data
As you use the app, we store:
- Daily virtue entries (status, optional notes)
- Focus virtue entries
- Personal goals you create
- Points earned and milestones achieved
- Streak and progress statistics
Diagnostic Data
To maintain and improve the app, we automatically collect:
- Crash reports and device information (via Sentry)
- Anonymized usage patterns such as feature engagement (via PostHog)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and maintain your VirtueKeeper account
- Track your personal virtue practice and progress
- Calculate streaks, points, and milestone achievements
- Display your goals and history
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your virtue entries, goals, and progress data are private to your account.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, a cloud infrastructure platform with:
- Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL)
- Row-level security ensuring users can only access their own data
- Secure authentication token management
- Data hosted on cloud infrastructure with industry-standard protections
5. Third-Party Services
VirtueKeeper integrates with the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Database, authentication, and file storage (supabase.com/privacy)
- Apple Sign-In: Optional authentication method (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)
- Google Sign-In: Optional authentication method (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
- Sentry: Crash reporting — collects crash reports, stack traces, device information, and navigation breadcrumbs to help us identify and fix issues (sentry.io/privacy)
- PostHog: Product analytics — collects anonymized usage data such as feature engagement and navigation patterns to help us improve the app experience (posthog.com/privacy)
These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed from our systems.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through the app
- Update your profile information at any time
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
To delete your account and all associated data, use the Delete Account option in Settings.
8. Children's Privacy
VirtueKeeper is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Your continued use of VirtueKeeper after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
